Used exclusively with KRYPTOR™ instruments, this technology is based on an amplified, non-radioactive energy transfer: TR-FRET
(Time Resolved Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer)
This transfer takes place between two fluorescent tracers:
It relies on the proximity of the donor and the acceptor in the immunocomples and on the overlap between the donor's emission spectrum and teh acceptor's absorption spectrum. The specific fluorescence, which is proportional to the antigen concentration, is obtained by a double selection: spectral (depending on the wavelength) and temporal (time resolved measurement).
Fluorescence-based TRACE™ technology derives from the work of Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, who wond the Nobel prize for chemistry in 1987. It was developed at Cibio Bioassays, by a team lead by Gérard Mathis. Patent-protected, it was adapted for use with the KRYPTOR™ system. Our multidisciplinary knowledge of instrumentation and immunoanalysis enables us to continuously upgrade our system, which is marketed across the world.
